General
Wc100 Rules as stated are binding on all contestants.
Entrance into any WC100 contest constitutes acceptance of these rules.
Privacy
- All entries will be posted anonymously
- Entrant information must be supplied to WC100 who will retain that information for billing and awards
- At no time will a contestant’s personal information be posted on any WC100 web page unless authorized by the contestant
Eligibility
Youth - 12 to 14 years of age
High School - 15 to 18 years of age
College – 19 to 22 years of age
Open – any age
- Administration reserves the right to ask contestants for proof of age in the Youth, High school, or College categories from any author
- No WC100 judge or member of administration shall be eligible to enter any contest
Content
- content of the college or open submissions categories are not monitored
- Random review of content will be done in the youth and high school categories, if content is deemed inappropriate for the age group, the submission will be moved to the open categor
- Youth and High school contest pages will have an “Editorial review request” option which will allow other contestants to request review of content by WC100 administration
- Decisions on content are made by WC100 administration and are final
Posting (Entering)
- Entry fees must be paid before any entry is submitted.
- Fees are payable by credit card or paypal
- After payment has cleared contestant will be given by email a link to the appropriate contest Blog.
- Contest blogs are the only vehicle for posting of your entry
Voting
- When the number of entrants in a contest totals 100, that contest will be closed to new entries
- Voting will remain open for 10 (ten) days after the contest is closed
- Voting will be composed of one vote for each participant and WC 100 judges, this initial participant vote may not be used for that participants own entry
- Additionally, voting for a favorite will be allowed by non contestants. These votes will be tallied and the submission receiving the most votes will entitle the contestant who submitted that entry an additional 3 (three) votes; the entry receiving the next largest number of votes will be given 2 (two) extra votes, these votes may be used for any entry.
- Any ties will be broken by WC100 judges
Judging Criteria
- Readability: was it a “good read” grabbing the reader’s attention
- Title: does it grab the reader’s attention does it reflect the stories content
- Characters: are they believable, do they have rounded personalities, are they “real”
- Story/plotline: is there a clear beginning middle and end, is there a good flow, is there a clear story
- Language usage: spelling, grammar, structure
- Is the authors writing style established
Prizes
- Cash awards will be issued in US dollars by check, money order or paypal
- Youth prize $750.00
- High school prize $1,000.00
- College prize $1,250.00
- Open prize $1500.00
- WC100 reserves the right to cancel any contest that does not contain 100 entries
